Even though most esports events have been either called off or put off this year, Riot Games, a host of LoL tournaments, announced that the 2020 Season World Championship would run offline in China. Organizers, in their turn, promise to take all precautions to protect participants.
Well then, we are glad to inform you that the games will be held from September 25 to October 31 in Shanghai. The finals will run at Pudong Soccer Stadium, the rest matches will take place at the Shanghai Media Tech Studio. The initial stages of the tournament will be entirely digital, without an in-person audience. As to the playoffs, while it is yet to be confirmed, there is a chance that spectators will be allowed to attend these matches. Anyway, the organizers promise that the championship is not expected to be boring, they have a surprise in store for us!
The tournament will include three stages: play-ins (September 25-30), the group stage (October 3-11), and playoffs (October 15-31).

The winners of both groups will be forwarded to the next stage, the losers will be eliminated, the rest will play a best-of-5 series in the second round to determine two more participants for the group stage.
16 teams (the top 4 teams from the first stage and 12 participants that have already been qualified) will compete with each other in the group stage. The competitors will be divided into 4 groups to play the best-of-1 games in a Double Round Robin format. The best 2 teams will be moved to the finals, the bottom participants will be eliminated.
8 teams will participate in the playoffs to play in a single-elimination bracket with all matches in the best-of-5 format. The top team will become a newly-crowned champion of the Worlds 2020!
