Cyber.Bet Cup Day 2 Recap: Movistar Riders Spearhead To Playoffs, Mustang Crew With An Early Exit

Anticipation was high for today’s games, and boy did they deliver. The first series of the day had Mustang Crew and NAVI Junior play a very close map on Train. So close, that the winner was decided only in overtime. And on to the Movistar Riders versus Hard Legion game, well, that was just a thriller of a bo3.

Game 1: Mustang Crew vs NAVI Junior (0-2)

The first map of the bo3 landed on Train, which was Mustang Crew’s pick. They most likely have chosen this map due to their success against Hard Legion yesterday. Just like against Hard Legion, they didn’t begin on the right foot. NAVI Junior very quickly cruised to a 5-0 start on the CT side. It was after Sergey “Wierd_1k” Tur picked up the AWP that Mustang Crew managed to find their way back into the match. He managed to open up some of the rounds, and his teammates would chip in to finish the round with a win.

One thing was apparent in this series. Mustang Crew struggled when Kirill “Gospadarov” Gospadarov had an AWP in his hands.

Once NAVI Junior lost control of their economy, Mustang Crew acquired 8 rounds on their T side. They continued with their streak on the CT side but got halted by insane deagle shots by Valeriy “B1t” Vakhovskiy and Ivan “Kapacho” Koplenko on the 18th round. The two teams continued trading rounds until they reached overtime. In overtime, Alexey “Topa” Topchienko won a ridiculous 1 versus 4. Afterwards, NAVI Junior cruised to a 19-15. Once the dust settled, “Gospadrov” ended map 1 with 40 frags and only 16 deaths.

When it came to the second map, having Dust2 picked wasn’t a surprise as it’s now a familiar site for both teams. But it was NAVI Junior who had a stellar start on Dust. This time around it was a 6-0 start. A round later Mustang Crew managed to respond with a win, but they couldn’t string any more rounds together. NAVI Junior would successfully crush their opponents on the T side of Dust 2 and ended the half 13-2. By that point, it was just a matter of time when the Juniors would close out the map. Their opponents managed to string a few more rounds together, but it was a 2-0 victory for NAVI Junior.

Game 2: Movistar Riders vs Hard Legion (2-1)

We’ve landed in Overpass for the first map of the series. Here Movistar secured the early start, but lost the initial gun round. No big deal, as they still managed to spearhead their way to a 6-1 start. At the end of the half, Hard Legion managed to retaliate with a few rounds. On to the 10th, and Movistar Riders just ran down the B bombsite, won an eco and overwhelmed the hold. After a disastrous loss like that, Hard Legion continued to fight back to a solid 7-8 half. From here on out Movistar had smooth sailing on the CT side. They dropped 2 rounds in total and finished the map 16-8 in their favour.

For the second map, Hard Legion picked Train. They won the pistol round but failed to convert the second-round win. This looked like an opportunity for Movistar Rider to start snatching rounds, but that was far from the case. For the majority of the half, Movistar would be capable of winning one round and Hard Legion would respond with three of their own. Eventually, the Spaniards got 6 rounds on the CT which, but unfortunately, it was simply not good enough. The disparity of rounds continued on the second half as well. The Russian defensive was too firm, and they manage to win the second map.

For the final map, as always, Inferno delivered. It was an incredible back-and-forth affair between the two teams. Eventually, Movistar Riders managed to claim a feasible 9-6 half. The second half was looking good for Hard Legion and even winning 4 rounds in a row. After a victory with just mere pistols, Movistar began their comeback. They successfully managed to win the third map and advance to the playoffs!
