Both league transferred to online due to coronavirus outbreak in the middle of the regular season. Some players needed to get used to such conditions, as many of them did not play a single online official match for years. European play-off turned to be extremely intensive. The best European team of 2019 G2 dropped to the lower bracket after the first round after losing 2:3 to MAD Lions. Team Fnatic easily passed Origen and then MAD Lions to get to the grand final.

G2 in their turn managed to collect themselves and won two matches in a row with the score line 3:1 to face Fnatic in the clash for the title. Despite high expectations, the grand final turned to be a stomp. Only the third game lasted longer than 30 minutes and G2 claimed their third LEC win in a row.

Cloud9 won LCS regular season with only one lost map and they did not show any mercy to their opponents during play-off stage. They swept 100thieves in the Round 1 and then beat Evil Geniueses 3:1. In the grand final Cloud faced another opponent FlyQuest and like G2 secured the whitewash to claim their MSI champion title and ticket to MSI with only 2 maps lost from 28 played.

Mid-Season Invitational is scheduled for July 3-19. It was already postponed due to coronavirus outbreak and it is still unknown how and when it is going to be held if not completely denied.
