LCS Spring 2020 regular season recap

LEC Spring 2020 was divided into two parts. From January 24 to March 7 teams played on Riot Games studio in Berlin as usually. However, due to coronavirus pandemic, season was paused and the last two weeks of regular season were played online.

As for results, from the beginning of the season current MSI champions and Worlds finalists G2 Esports started to dominate over every opponent. They won six games in a row but then suddenly failed on Week 4. Their loss to Misfits was not that sensational, as the team led by Bvoy was treated as a tough opponent, but then G2 fall to FC Schalke 04, who had no wins so far.

Speaking about Schalke, they gave a chance for the full comeback to legendary Greek ADC FORG1VEN, but Konstantinos-Napoleon could not take his chance. It is hard to blame him for Schalke’s 0:7 but after the team changed ADC, they won 6 games from 11. Their new marksman Innaxe came from Unicorns of Love Russian roster. During his time in UOL Bulgarian ADC won LCL and was very close to make it through to the Worlds main stage.

G2 lost only one time during next ten games and claimed the first place of the regular season. Fnatic took the second place. For the whole season, they were the main chaser of G2, but lost both game versus them and ended the split with score line 13:5. Origen with the same W:L stats stayed on the third place due to tiebreak indicators. MAD Lions claimed the last upper bracket spot with the score line 11:7. Misfits (10:8) are fifth and Rogue (9:9) is the last team in play-offs. Those two start their way from the lower bracket.

As for individual awards, two G2 players are leading in “Player of the Game” Standings. Jankos has seven awards and Perks got six. Rogue top laner Finn is third with five awards.

The starting play-off games are scheduled for April 3-5. G2 play versus MAD Lions on April 3, 19 CEST. Fnatic versus Origen is scheduled for April 4, 18 CEST and lower bracked game between Misfits and Rogue is played on April 5, 18 CEST. All matches are best of five.
