Riot Games shared their plans on Valorant pro scene

Riot Games revealed their plans on esports part of their brand new tactical 3D action Valorant. Many gameplay of Valorant seem to be similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. They game has economic components, weapons buy and grenades. The main gameplay mode is planting bomb on one of the two bombsites for one team and defending or defusing bomb for another team. Moreover even spray patterns of Valorant weapons are similar to CS:GO devices. It is widely thought, that Riot Games made this to draw away CS:GO audience and make it feel comfortable in the new game.

At the same time, Valorant has cartoon graphics style and CS:GO hard core audience may not like it. Every hero in game got unique abilities that can affect gameplay a lot. This makes the game in some ways look like Overwatch by Blizzard.

Riot Games developed and released the biggest esports game ever League of Legends. Therefore, Valorant was also released with the big plans for pro gaming. In LoL Riot Games prefer to control the whole esports scene. Riot Games themselves hold every pro event. All tournaments are highly regulated and every player sign contract not only with his team, but also with the developer.

This makes LoL pro scene stable and reliable for players, teams and sponsors. However it also brings some restrictions. Speaking about Valorant, Riot Games decided to try out case, which is used by Valve on CS:GO and Dota 2 esports scene. The first Valorant esports events will be held by different tournament operators, including small online events with prize pools like $10 000. Such tournaments are unique for CS:GO and Dota 2, comparing to League of Legends pro scene. Riot Games themselves will establish a big pro scene, but even the date of official Valorant release is yet unknown.

Despite another tournament system, Valorant tournaments will have restrictions, which are common for League of Legends tournaments. Tournaments are not allowed to advertise alcohol drinks, cigarettes, weapons, other games and bookmakers. During tournament games, observers and participants will have to turn off blood. With such option the game shows sparks instead of blood after someone hits another hero.

Considering sponsorship restrictions, it is not understood how many tournament operators will be interested in holding Valorant events. The thing is bookmakers are the main partners of smaller events in Dota 2 and CS:GO. Therefore, they are the mainspring of esports.

Cyber.Bet also supports esports. We hold CS:GO events, partner up with Dota 2 tournaments and share quality content for gamers and esports fans.
