The first CS:GO competition of the 2021 Open Series has ended just recently. And we are glad to announce its results and present new champions: PaiN Gaming and Team Spirit!
As far as you remember, the competition was running in two divisions: Europe and North America. Two invited teams (Rebirth Esports and Triumph) and two squads, seeded through closed qualifiers (Extra Salt and paiN Gaming), competed against each other in North America. Five invited contestants (BIG, Evil Geniuses, FunPlus Phoenix, Gambit Esports, Team Spirit), the two seeded ones (forZe, HellRaisers), and ESL Meisterschaf’s winner (Sprout) played against each other in Europe.
In North America, the Brazilian team PaiN Gaming scratched out a 3:0 win from Rebirth Esports in the Grand Final. On the way to the victory, the future champion defeated Triumph with a 2:1 score and Rebirth Esports with a 2:0 score. The victor gained a $16,000 reward and 60 EPT ranking points.
The distribution of the total prize pool in North America is as follows:
In the European division, it was Russia’s Team Spirit that distinguished itself in the competition. The squad was performing strongly. Having lost only once to Gambit in the group stage, the winner-to-be pulled itself up and showed paces! Thus, the ‘Dragons’ smashed the tournament favorite, BIG, in the semi-finals and then brightly beat FunPlus Phoenix with a clean 3:0 score in the Grand Final! The triumphant took home $35,000 and gained 100 EPT ranking points.
The rest prize fund was spread among the contestants as seen below:
