We are excited to break the great news — last Saturday, after six weeks of tough competitions, the largest yearly esports tournament came to an end. LoL Worlds 2020 has brightened up our autumn by creating a thrilling and positive atmosphere, and finally, has brought in a new victor — DAMWON Gaming!

In the deciding game, the South Korean team defeated Chinese Suning with a 3:1 score. Both contestants came to the playoffs from the first positions of groups A and B. On the way toward the top, Suning triumphed over JD Gaming and Top Esports, while the future champion smashed DRX and G2 Esports.

In the grand final, two strong opponents were keeping us in suspense over a span of the game. As to the first map, the Koreans advanced to Infernal Soul almost at once, but the opponents had their moments too, dictating the play and winning several battles. After all, the map was taken by the future champion. On the second map, Suning surprised us by taking Rengar. At the beginning of the third game, the Korean team got a grip. However, in a Nashor fight, they failed, giving Suning hope. The Chinese didn’t grab this opportunity and, after that, lost on the fourth map as well. Thus, the title of a champion comes back to Korea, 3 years afterwards. An MVP title is given to Canyon, a jungler, playing for the team since September 2018.

Looking back, hosted by Riot Games, the event has been running from September 25 to October 31 in Shanghai, China. 22 strong teams from all over the world have vied for the top spot reward equal to a 25% share of the overall prize fund and the World Champion title.

Despite the pandemic, the final fight at Pudong Stadium was witnessed by over 6K viewers. More than 3 million people were reported to apply to attend the game but, due to restrictions and a limited number of seats, the tickets were given away by lottery.

DAMWON Gaming became one of the tournament favorites from the very beginning, keeping this title up to the grand final. No doubt, Suning had their bright moments and chances of winning too, but the battle is to the strong!
